Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
- Wash the fresh broccoli, cut it into bite-sized florets, and steam it in a microwave-safe bowl with water for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the egg, cream of chicken soup, mayonnaise, sour cream, sharp cheddar cheese, diced onion, and a pinch of salt.
- Gently fold the steamed broccoli into the creamy mixture and transfer to the greased casserole dish.
- Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- While baking, crush the Ritz crackers and mix with melted butter.
- After 20 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the buttery Ritz cracker mixture on top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
