Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Wash the fresh broccoli, cut it into bite-sized florets, and steam it in a microwave-safe bowl with water for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the egg, cream of chicken soup, mayonnaise, sour cream, sharp cheddar cheese, diced onion, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Gently fold the steamed broccoli into the creamy mixture and transfer to the greased casserole dish.
  5. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  6. While baking, crush the Ritz crackers and mix with melted butter.
  7. After 20 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the buttery Ritz cracker mixture on top.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
