  • 8 oz Whipped Cream Cheese or softened cream cheese or vegan cream cheese for a dairy-free version
  • 1/4 cup Sour Cream or Mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used as a lighter alternative
  • 2 tbsp Dill (finely chopped) fresh dill recommended, dried dill can be used sparingly
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt feel free to use sea salt or table salt
For the Sandwich
  • 1 large English Cucumber sliced thinly
  • 8 slices Sandwich Bread white or whole-wheat, remove crusts for traditional look

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a small bowl, combine whipped cream cheese, sour cream (or mayonnaise), chopped dill, and kosher salt. Mix until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Spread a generous layer of the herbed cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice of sandwich bread.
  3. Using a mandolin or sharp knife, slice the English cucumber thinly, aiming for about 1/8-inch thickness.
  4. Lay half of the prepared bread slices cream cheese-side up and arrange the cucumber slices on top, slightly overlapping.
  5. Trim off the crusts from each sandwich with a serrated knife for a neat appearance.
  6. Cut each sandwich into quarters diagonally or rectangularly.
  7. Transfer the cut sandwiches onto a serving dish, and optionally garnish with extra sprigs of dill or cucumber slices.
