Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cook uncooked pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve pasta water before draining.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet, add flour, and whisk for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add wine or broth, allow to reduce by half.
  4. Whisk in heavy cream, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning, cooking until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes, simmer for 5 minutes to thicken.
  6. Stir in Parmesan cheese and basil; adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Toss the drained pasta with the sauce, using reserved pasta water if needed.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with additional Parmesan and basil.
