Step-by-Step Instructions
- Start by slicing medium onions into ½-inch thick rings, ensuring the cuts are even for uniform cooking. Gently separate the rings and set them aside.
- In a shallow dish, combine salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and half of the flour. Use a whisk or a fork to mix everything thoroughly until evenly distributed.
- In another mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, the egg, baking powder, and the remaining flour until the mixture is smooth and thick.
- Dredge each onion ring in the dry seasoning mix, then dip it into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Next, roll each coated onion ring in the breadcrumbs until they’re nicely covered.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully place the onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Once the onion rings are finished cooking, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes
Ensure onion rings are cut evenly for uniform cooking. Preheating the air fryer maximizes crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for best results.
