Step-by-Step Instructions for Vegan Buñuelos
  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix in the melted coconut oil and warm water until a soft dough forms.
  2. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10-15 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  3. Once kneaded, cut the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Flatten slightly and cover with a towel to rest for 30 minutes.
  4. After resting, take one dough ball and place it between two sheets of parchment paper or use a tortilla press. Roll or press each ball into a thin disc.
  5. In a deep frying pan, heat the neutral vegetable oil to a temperature of 350-375°F. Fry each rolled disc for about 30-45 seconds on each side until golden brown.
  6. Remove the buñuelos from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and cane sugar.
