  • 1.5 cups Club Soda Ice-cold for best results.
  • 1 quart Neutral Oil Canola or Peanut oil recommended.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Peel the onions and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rings.
  2. Toss onion rings with 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix remaining flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt, then stir in club soda.
  4. Heat oil in a Dutch oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Dip each onion ring into the batter and fry in small batches for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Transfer fried rings to a wire rack and sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
