Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Delicious Cod Piccata
  1. Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge the cod fillets in flour, shaking off excess flour.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Sear the cod fillets for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden.
  5. Sauté minced garlic in the same skillet for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Deglaze with lemon juice and chicken broth, scraping up brown bits. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  7. Stir in capers and simmer for another 1-2 minutes.
  8. Whisk in remaining butter until melted and sauce thickens slightly.
  9. Return seared cod to the sauce, spooning it over to warm through for about 1 minute.
  10. Serve with sauce spooned over, garnishing with parsley and lemon slices.
