  • 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil or avocado oil
For the Flavoring
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter or vegan butter
  • 3 cloves Garlic fresh minced
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder or fresh onion
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground
For the Crispy Topping
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated or nutritional yeast

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the cabbage into 3/4 inch thick rounds, keeping the core intact.
  3. Brush both sides of each cabbage steak with extra virgin olive oil.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Coat each cabbage steak generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  6. Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the top of each cabbage steak.
  7. Roast the cabbage steaks in the oven for approximately 20 minutes.
  8. Switch to broil and broil for an additional 60-90 seconds for extra crispiness.
  9. Let the steaks rest for about 2 minutes before serving.
