Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of warm water (110°F), 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5–10 minutes until foamy and bubbly.
- Add 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of salt to the bowl, along with ¼ cup of olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes.
- Form the dough into a ball, place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for approximately 45 minutes.
- Punch the dough down, grease a baking pan, and press the dough into it. Dimple the surface, drizzle olive oil, and sprinkle with garlic, Parmesan, and herbs.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove the focaccia from the oven, let cool slightly, brush with olive oil, cut into squares, and serve warm.
