  • 20 oz Frozen Shredded Hash Browns Thawed and excess moisture removed
  • 2 cups Shredded White Cheddar Can substitute with Monterey Jack or Gruyère
For the Filling
  • 6 large Eggs Fresh eggs preferred
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream or Whole Milk Can substitute with milk for lighter option
  • 1 medium Onion Shallots can be used as an alternative
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter Can use olive oil as a lighter substitute
  • 6 slices Bacon Turkey bacon can be used as a lighter option
For Seasoning and Garnish
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust to preference
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper Freshly ground is best
  • 0.25 cup Chives Can substitute green onions

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Thaw and squeeze excess moisture from hash browns. Mix with cheddar, salt, and pepper; press into a greased springform pan and freeze for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F. Bake the crust for about 15 minutes until slightly golden and set. Let it cool.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter and sauté diced onions for 10-15 minutes until caramelized. Allow to cool.
  4. In a bowl, whisk eggs and cream until combined. Add cheese, onions, and bacon; season to taste.
  5. Pour filling into the crust and bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes until set and golden.
  6. Loosen the sides of the quiche and bake an additional 10-15 minutes for a crispy crust. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
