Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 15x10-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together 1 cup of softened real butter and 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon of almond extract, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  4. Incorporate 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Press half of the dough into the bottom of the greased baking pan to form the base.
  6. Spread the canned cherry pie filling evenly over the crust layer.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the cherry filling evenly.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  9. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before glazing.
  10. Combine 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar, 1 teaspoon of almond extract, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of milk for the glaze.
  11. Drizzle the glaze evenly over the cooled bars.

Notes
