Preparation Instructions

  3. Arrange pastry pieces on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover with parchment paper and a baking tray. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  4. Heat whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming.
  5. Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until light. Gradually pour in warm milk while whisking continuously.
  6. Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Assemble the cake by layering puff pastry and custard on a serving dish. Finish with puff pastry on top.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  9. Dust the cake with powdered sugar before serving. Optionally add fresh berries for garnish.
