  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Unsulphured Molasses Can substitute with brown sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 large Egg Yolk
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour Measured carefully
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
Coating Ingredients
  • 1 cup Cane Granulated Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup Turbinado Sugar
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup Musselman’s Apple Butter Avoid sugar-free varieties

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and molasses until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Add to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Mix together granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl for coating.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough, roll in cinnamon sugar, and place on baking sheets. Indent with a spoon and fill with apple butter, topping with turbinado sugar.
  7. Bake for 8-12 minutes, until edges are set and tops are lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
