For the Filling
  • 1 cup Pizza Sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Consider blending with cheddar
  • 1 cup Mini Pepperoni Slices Vegetarian options can be used
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano Fresh oregano can be substituted
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh minced garlic can be used
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Optional, use nutritional yeast for vegan
  • 1 large Egg (beaten) For egg wash, can skip for vegan
For Greasing
  • as needed Nonstick Spray or Melted Butter Oil can also be used

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust until about 1/8-inch thick and cut circles for muffin tin.
  3. Press dough circles into the greased muffin tin to form cups.
  4. Spoon 1 to 1½ teaspoons of pizza sauce into each cup.
  5. Layer with mozzarella cheese, mini pepperoni, oregano, and garlic powder.
  6. Cut smaller dough circles for the lids and crimp the edges on top of the filled cups.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool in the tin for about 5 minutes before removing.
