  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes adjust to taste
For the Creamy Texture
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream coconut milk for dairy-free
  • 1 cup vegetable broth chicken broth is also an option
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated nutritional yeast for dairy-free
Final Touches
  • salt & black pepper to taste
  • fresh basil leaves for garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Sauté the chopped onion in the hot oil for about 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic to the pan and cook for an additional minute, stirring continuously.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, dried basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper; let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in 1 cup of vegetable broth and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  6. Add the chosen pasta to the skillet; cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Incorporate 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and combined.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
