  • 1 Yellow or White Onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 Carrot finely diced
  • 1 Celery finely diced
  • 28 oz Crushed Tomatoes opt for whole tomatoes crushed at home
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup Red Wine optional; use broth for non-alcoholic variant
  • ¼ cup Whole Milk or half-and-half
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 lb Spaghetti or favorite pasta
For Garnish
  • Fresh Basil or Parsley optional
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese optional

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add finely diced onion, carrot, and celery, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  2. Introduce minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant. Then, add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Stir in 28 ounces of crushed tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon each of dried oregano and basil, along with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the skillet partially, and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour for a richer flavor.
  5. About 10 minutes before serving, gently stir in ¼ cup of whole milk.
  6. While the sauce simmers, cook 1 pound of spaghetti or your favorite pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  7. Serve the Savory Beef Bolognese sauce generously over the cooked pasta, toss gently to coat.
