  • 2 cups Broth (Better Than Bouillon chicken) Substitution: Beef or shrimp broth can also be used.
For the Vegetables
  • 1.5 cups Mixed Onions and Bell Peppers, chopped
  • 3 tsp Minced Garlic
For Thickening and Flavoring
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil, divided Substitution: Olive oil or canola oil can also be used.
  • 1 tsp Seafood Seasoning Adjust to taste based on preferred spice level.
  • 1/4 cup Flour
For the Spice Blend
  • 1 tbsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Thyme
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Season the shrimp with the seafood seasoning. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side until pink. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil, then the hamburger meat and ground pork sausage. Brown the mixture over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  3. Stir in the chopped onions and bell peppers, cooking for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper, mixing well.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture while stirring. Gradually pour in the chicken broth, stirring until well combined. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened slightly.
  5. Add the cooked rice into the skillet, stirring to coat. Return the cooked shrimp to the pan and let the dish simmer for an additional 5 minutes to meld flavors.
  6. Once heated, serve your Shrimp Dirty Rice with garnishing options like chopped green onions or fresh parsley.
