  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground turkey
  • 1 medium Onion or shallots
For the Cabbage & Sauce
  • 1 head Cabbage green or savoy
  • 2 cans Diced Tomatoes (petit) fire-roasted recommended
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste or crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce
For Seasoning & Garnish
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme or dried herbs
  • 1 teaspoon Parsley or dried herbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes optional
  • 1 teaspoon Salt to taste

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your slow cooker to the LOW setting.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, then transfer to a bowl.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion, thyme, parsley, red pepper flakes, and salt in the same skillet for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Combine the onion mixture with the browned ground beef.
  5. Chop the cabbage into 1-inch pieces and place them in the slow cooker.
  6. In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water.
  7. Pour the tomato sauce mixture over the cabbage in the slow cooker.
  8. Cover and set the slow cooker to LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
  9. Check for tenderness, and serve hot over rice.
