Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare your 8" round chocolate cake according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ½ cup softened butter, 4 tablespoons cocoa powder, and 2 cups powdered sugar. Add 5-6 tablespoons milk and ½ teaspoon almond or vanilla extract, and blend on low speed until creamy and smooth.
  3. Line a pizza pan with aluminum foil. Once the cake has cooled completely, place it in the center of the covered pizza pan.
  4. Frost the top and sides of the cooled chocolate cake with the prepared chocolate frosting, aiming for a smooth and even finish.
  5. Unwrap the Hershey's Kisses and gently press them into the center of the frosted cake, creating sunflower seeds appearance.
  6. Take the unwrapped Twinkies and arrange them around the perimeter of the cake, standing them upright to form petals.
  7. Inspect the cake and make adjustments if necessary. Add additional candy decorations if desired. Slice and serve.
